Bayard, P.A., a Meritas® member law firm based in Wilmington Delaware, announced today that Douglas M. Hershman has been appointed to serve on the Delaware State Bar Association (DSBA) Executive Committee. Incoming DSBA President Benjamin Strauss named Hershman to the position, with a one-year term set to begin July 1, 2009.
The Delaware State Bar Association has organized and united the lawyers who practice in the State of Delaware for more than 85 years. It currently serves more than 4,000 members.

"I look forward to advancing Delaware's legal community through DSBA's support of programs to continue to improve the quality of the profession, the practice of law, the operation of the courts, and the competency of lawyers."
Hershman leads Bayard's diverse real estate practice throughout Delaware and in the surrounding states. He represents both buyers and sellers of commercial and residential properties, borrowers in financing transactions, and lenders making commercial real estate loans. He also is a licensed issuing agent for several national title insurance companies.
Hershman is a past Chairman of the Delaware State Bar Association's Real and Personal Property Section. He currently serves on the Board of Directors and as Secretary for the Home Builders Association of Delaware, and on the Board of Directors and as Vice-Chairman of the Better Business Bureau of Delaware. He has been recognized as a leading lawyer in the field of real estate law by Chambers USA in 2006 through 2009, and was also designated a Delaware Super Lawyer in 2007 through 2009.
