Bayard Attorney Marla H. Norton Named to the Board of the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts (DCCA)

Bayard, P.A., a Meritas® member law firm based in Wilmington Delaware, announced today that Marla H. Norton, a Director with the firm, has been named a member of the Board of Directors of the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts (DCCA) for a three-year term commencing August 1, 2009.  In addition, Norton has been named as the Secretary of DCCA board, and will serve on DCCA’s Executive Committee and its Governance committee.

“Marla has been a long time champion of the arts, and her professional talents and personal interest will benefit both the DCCA board and the greater Delaware arts community,” said Neil B. Norton has over twenty years of experience providing business advice in a variety of corporate and commercial transactions, including securitization transactions, corporate formation and governance, third-party legal opinions, mergers and acquisitions, contract negotiation and drafting, and secured lending.

She currently serves on the American Bar Association’s LLC, Partnership and Unincorporated Entities Committee and the Legal Opinions Committee, and she chairs the Subcommittee on Business Trusts.  Among many professional accolades, Norton has been named a leading lawyer in the “Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions” practice area by Chambers USA since 2008.  She was also named a Delaware Super Lawyer for 2007 in the field of business/corporate law, featured in Philadelphia magazine.

She earned her B.A. from the University of Delaware in 1984, and her J.D., with honors, from George Washington University Law School in 1987.

The Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts is a non-collecting art museum dedicated to the advancement of contemporary art.  DCCA’s mission is to present exhibitions, offer exposure to the creative process, provide educational opportunities and extend innovative programs to a diverse community.
