Bayard Attorneys Participate in the Delaware High School Mock Trial Tournament
Three Bayard attorneys - Justin Alberto, Steve Brauerman, and Kara Swasey - participated in the Delaware High School Mock Trial Tournament held on February 27-28, 2009, at the New Castle County Courthouse in Wilmington, Delaware.
The tournament consisted of local high school teams competing against each other to represent Delaware at the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Atlanta, Georgia. During the mock trial, students assumed the roles of a witness or attorney. According to Delaware Law Related Education Center, "the goal of the Competition is to enhance students' citizenship skills. Students learn about our trial system and develop critical thinking and public speaking skills."
Alberto and Brauerman served alongside members of the judiciary and Delaware bar as jurors for the competition. Swasey acted as an attorney coach for the St. Mark's High School team. St. Mark's placed third in the Delaware competition for the second straight year.
