WILMINGTON, Del.—February 9, 2011 – Bayard, P.A., a Meritas® member law firm based in Wilmington Delaware, announced today that Jamie L. Edmonson has been elected a Director of the firm.
Edmonson, Senior Counsel with the firm since 2008, concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial bankruptcy, restructurings, insolvencies and liquidations.
During more than 14 years of practice, Edmonson has represented public and non-public debtor corporations, secured and unsecured creditors, official committees, trustees, and asset purchasers. She is currently serving as bankruptcy counsel to the Debtors in Rock US Holdings; co-counsel to the Official Committees of Unsecured Creditors in AbitibiBowater, Inc. and Capmark Financial Inc.; and, co-counsel to the Debtors in Constar International Inc., Crdentia Holdings, ClearPoint Business Resources, and Broadway 401.
Edmonson is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts in Delaware and California. She is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, American Bar Association, Delaware State Bar Association, California State Bar Association, Delaware State Bar Association, California Bankruptcy Forum, International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation, and Turnaround Management Association. Edmonson has been a speaker at several American Bankruptcy Institute events.
Prior to joining Bayard, Edmonson practiced in the corporate restructuring field both at one of the largest law firms in the world, where she represented clients in all aspects of the chapter 11 restructuring process, and at a bankruptcy boutique firm in Wilmington, Delaware. More recently, Edmonson worked with a national turnaround firm assisting distressed companies through the chapter 11 process. Her chapter 11 restructuring experience has included debtors in a broad spectrum of business sectors, including information technology, retail, food, energy, construction, real estate, telecommunications, and manufacturing industries.
Edmonson earned her B.S.B.A. in Real Estate and Urban Development with a minor in Finance from American University in 1990, and her J.D. from Loyola Law School, Loyola Marymount University in 1996. She served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Alex Kozinski in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. While attending Loyola Law School, Loyola Marymount University she was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Law Honor Society.
