Bayard Employees Donate to Toys for Tots
Bayard employees donated over $500 worth of toys to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program through the Delaware Paralegal Association. Bayard bankruptcy paralegals Tiffany Matthews and Uraina Norman are members of the Delaware Paralegal Association. They worked with Bayard attorney Vanessa R. Tiradentes and employees Jacqueline Lately and Jeanne Carrera to collect toys from Bayard employees to donate to the program. The toys were donated to Toys for Tots at the Delaware Paralegal Association's December meeting.
The Delaware Paralegal Association (DPA) was formed in 1976. Early that year, 16 paralegals met at what was then known as Prickett Ward Burt & Sanders to gauge interest among paralegals in Delaware to form an association whose structure and purpose(s) would be determined by the participants. Committees were appointed to begin work on the structure and organization of the association, to research and advise on whether to form a working relationship with the Delaware State Bar Association and to contact paralegals throughout the state to advise them of the association. In September of that year, 33 members were certified as "Charter" members of the Association. The Association has grown steadily over the years and now boasts a membership of approximately 300. The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots Program has a mission to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November, and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. They strive to deliver a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
