WILMINGTON, Del. - May 12, 2009 - Bayard P.A., a Meritas® member law firm based in Wilmington Delaware, announced today that the Meritas Executive Committee has selected Michael J. Scali, a director with the firm, to serve a one-year term on its Membership Committee effective immediately.
Meritas is an international, non-profit, invitation-only alliance of more than 170 independent commercial law firms in 60 countries. In his new role on the Membership Committee, Scali will work to maintain and build Meritas member firm coverage in priority markets worldwide. The appointment follows Scali's recent involvement in the Meritas Leadership Institute, a year-long program that provides a forum for the development and identification of future leaders within the organization. He was elected Chairman of that group by his peers at the onset of the program.

Scali concentrates his practice in commercial lending, and commercial and residential real estate. He also advises clients in the areas of corporate formation and governance, alternative business entities, and commercial transactions.
Active within the Delaware business and professional communities, Scali is a member of the Board of Directors for The Committee of 100, a business organization that promotes responsible economic development in the State of Delaware. He is a member of the Committee's Scholarship and the Member Relations Sub-Committees, and serves on the Advisory Board of Sun National Bank, itself a member of The Committee of 100. He is also a member of the Delaware Community Development Corporation and its Personnel Sub-Committee, and is active in the Delaware Bankers Association, the World Trade Center Delaware and The Risk Management Association.
Scali earned his B.A. from Villanova University in 1998 and his J.D., cum laude, from The Dickinson School of Law of The Pennsylvania State University, in 2001.
