Bayard Attorneys Named Best Lawyers in America in 2013

Bayard, P.A., a Meritas® member law firm based in Wilmington Delaware, announced today that Curtis P. Bounds, Charlene D. Davis, Neil B. Glassman and Richard D. Kirk have been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® 2013 list (Copyright 2013 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, S.C.). Curtis, first designated in Best Lawyers in 2009, is recognized in the practice area of family law. Charlene, new to the list, is recognized in both the practice areas of bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights/insolvency and reorganization law and the area of bankruptcy litigation. Neil, a member of the list since 2006, is recognized in the practice area of bankruptcy and creditor debtor rights/insolvency and reorganization. Dick, a member of the list since 1993, was once again designated as a best lawyer in the practice areas of administrative/regulatory law and intellectual property.

Since its inception in 1983, Best Lawyers has become regarded as a guide to legal excellence. Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-review survey in which more than 39,000 leading attorneys cast almost 3.1 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas. Lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed.

Curtis P. Bounds concentrates his practice in complex divorce and child custody cases. He also assists clients with pre-nuptial agreements, support matters, visitation and adoption. He is a past Chair of the Delaware Bar Association Family Law Section and currently serves as a Commissioner to the Delaware Family Law Commission and as a member of the Delaware Humanities Council. Curtis serves as head of Bayard’s Family Law Group and returns to the Best Lawyers list for his fifth year. He graduated from University of Dallas with a B.A. and earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia, School of Law.

Charlene D. Davis focuses her Practice in corporate bankruptcy and commercial litigation. She regularly represents debtors, statutory committees, secured lenders, trustees, and creditors in large bankruptcy cases. She is also an experienced federal litigator and a former Assistant United States Attorney. Charlene serves on the Special Masters Panel of the United States District Court in Delaware. She also currently serves on Widener University School of Law’s National Advisory Council. Charlene is the past chair of the Bankruptcy Law Section of the Delaware State Bar Association; past President of the Delaware Chapter of the Federal Bar Association; and, a former member of both the Advisory Committee to the United States District Court for Delaware and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University with a B.A., cum laude, and earned a J.D., cum laude, from Widener University’s Delaware School of Law.

Neil B. Glassman focuses his practice in corporate restructuring and insolvency; representing debtors, statutory committees, secured lenders and other creditors in large bankruptcy cases and insolvency proceedings. An experienced transactional attorney, Neil represents clients in relation to the law of Delaware business entities including corporations, business trusts, general and limited partnerships, limited liability companies, and conventional and captive insurance companies. Neil also serves as Bayard’s Chairman and head of the firm’s Bankruptcy group. He earned a B.A. from Trinity College, a M.B.A. from University of Connecticut, and a J.D. from Case Western Reserve University, School of Law. He has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers since 2006.

Richard D. Kirk focuses his practice in administrative law, intellectual property and general business litigation, and alternative dispute resolution. Dick is a member of the Advisory Committee to the United States District Court for Delaware. He is the past Chair of a special committee of the Superior Court charged with investigating that court’s asbestos and toxic tort docket; past Chair of the Delaware Supreme Court’s Commission on Continuing Legal Education; past President of the Delaware State Bar Association; past Chair of the Board of Directors of Delaware Volunteer Legal Services; and, past member of the Board of Directors of the Delaware Bar Foundation. He graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A., and earned a J.D. from University of Virginia, School of Law. He has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers since 1993.
