Bayard, P.A. announced today that bankruptcy lawyer Jamie L. Edmonson has joined the firm as senior counsel. Edmonson focuses her practice in the areas of commercial bankruptcy, restructurings, insolvencies, liquidations, representation of debtors, statutory committees, lenders and asset purchasers.
"Jamie's broad experience and understanding in bankruptcy and restructuring matters over the past twelve years make her a valuable addition to Bayard," said Neil Glassman, Chair of Bayard's bankruptcy practice group. Edmonson has represented public and non-public debtor corporations, secured and unsecured creditors, official committees, trustees, and asset purchasers in bankruptcy and restructuring matters. Her chapter 11 restructuring experience spans information technology, retail, food, energy, construction, telecommunications, and manufacturing industries.
Prior to joining Bayard, Edmonson served as managing director for a national turnaround firm, assisting distressed companies though the chapter 11 process. As an attorney with a boutique bankruptcy firm in Wilmington, Delaware, she represented debtors, creditors' committees and DIP lenders in chapter 11 cases, and potential asset purchasers in chapter 7 and 11 cases. She also advised on liquidation and distribution trusts of former estates.
Edmonson began her legal career in Los Angeles, including several years of service in the corporate restructuring department of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP. She later transferred to that firm's Wilmington office. She also served as a Judicial Extern for the honorable Alex Kozinski in the Ninth Circuit of Appeals.
Edmonson graduated from the American University with a B.S.B.A. in 1990. She earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School, Loyola Marymount University in 1996, where she was a member of the Phi Delta Phi Law Honor Society.
She is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, California State Bar Association, California Bankruptcy Forum, Delaware State Bar Association, and International Women's Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation.
