WILMINGTON, Del. – May 3, 2010 – Bayard P.A., a Meritas® member law firm based in Wilmington Delaware, announced today that the Meritas Executive Committee has selected Michael J. Scali, a director with the firm, to serve a second one-year term on its Membership Committee.
Meritas is an international, non-profit, invitation-only alliance of more than 170 independent commercial law firms in 60 countries. In his role on the Membership Committee, Scali will work to maintain and build Meritas member firm coverage in priority markets worldwide. The reappointment follows Scali’s recent involvement in the Meritas Leadership Institute, a year-long program that provides a forum for the development and identification of future leaders within the organization. He was elected Chairman of that group by his peers at the onset of the program.

Scali concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial lending, commercial and residential real estate, corporate formation and governance, alternative business entities, and commercial transactions. Currently, Scali is a member of the firm’s associates committee.
Active within the Delaware business and professional communities, Scali serves as a member of the Board of Directors for The Committee of 100, a business organization that promotes responsible economic development in the State of Delaware, and was recently elected as First Vice President. Scali also is a member of the Committee’s Scholarship and the Member Relations Committees. He is also a member of the Delaware Community Development Corporation and its Personnel Sub-Committee, and is active in the Delaware Bankers Association, the World Trade Center Delaware, and The Risk Management Association.
Scali also serves as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau’s binding arbitration program for real estate disputes and he also lectures on entity formation and governance, and on title issues and title insurance.
Scali earned his B.A. from Villanova University in 1998 and his J.D., cum laude, from The Dickinson School of Law of The Pennsylvania State University, in 2001.
