Charlene D. Davis is a director at Bayard. Charlene’s practice focus is corporate bankruptcy and commercial litigation. Charlene regularly represents creditor committees, trustees, debtors and creditors in many large bankruptcy cases. She is an experienced federal litigator and a former Assistant United States Attorney. Charlene joined the firm in 1988. She currently serves on the firm’s executive and marketing committees.
Charlene currently serves on Widener University School of Law National Advisory Council. She was recognized as a leading lawyer in bankruptcy and restructuring by Chambers USA and Lawdragon 3000 in 2009, 2010 and 2011. She was also designated a Delaware Super Lawyer in the areas of bankruptcy and creditor/debtor rights in the June 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010 issues of Philadelphia magazine. Charlene is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.*
Charlene is a past chair of the Bankruptcy Law Section of the Delaware State Bar Association, a former member of the Advisory Committee to the United States District Court for the District of Delaware, and a past President of the Delaware Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Charlene also served on the Advisory Committee and the Bench and Bar Relations Committee for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals from 1996 to 1998. In 1996, Charlene was named as the first recipient of the Caleb R. Layton Service Award by the judges of the Federal District Court in Delaware. From 1989 through 1997, she served as a member of the Federal District Court CJA Blue Ribbon Panel.
Charlene authored a chapter related to appellate practice in Federal Practice Guide—Federal Appellate Procedure Third Circuit (Lawyers Cooperative Publishing, 1997).
