GianClaudio Finizio is an associate at Bayard. He concentrates his practice counseling companies on mergers and acquisitions, including assisting in structuring, negotiating and documenting transactions; general corporate and business law matters; corporate governance issues; and providing legal opinions on provisions of Delaware law relating to corporate transactions. His focus as a transactional attorney is enhanced and complemented by significant experience in the areas of corporate bankruptcy and commercial litigation.
In addition, GianClaudio focuses on insurance matters including advising insurance companies regarding their regulation by the Insurance Commissioner of Delaware and changes in their ownership or control. During 2008, GianClaudio performed the duties of Deputy Insurance Commissioner for then Insurance Commissioner of Delaware (now Lieutenant Governor) Matthew Denn.
Prior to practicing law, he served as a business analyst in the Health, Safety and Environment Department of Basell USA Inc., supporting North American manufacturing, and research and development facilities in the areas of product regulatory activities, environmental, toxicological, health, safety, and industrial hygiene matters. While attending law school, GianClaudio was a member of Basell's law department, assisting with litigation and corporate governance matters.
GianClaudio served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Jane R. Roth in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Widener University School of Law in 2002, and graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.A. in Biology and Italian in 1994. He is fluent in Italian.
Outside of Bayard, GianClaudio is a member of the Board of Directors of Variety-The Children's Charity (Delaware Division), a member of ALMA-Associazione Italiana LL.M., and a member of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce of Greater Philadelphia. He is also a guardian ad litem for the Office of the Child Advocate of Delaware..
