Wilmington, Delaware- On Wednesday, August 24, 2022, Bayard director Evan T. Miller is scheduled to speak on an American Bankruptcy Institute ABILive panel titled “Dealing with Digital Assets,” sponsored by ABI’s Secured Credit Committee. Evan will be joined by co-panelists C.J. Harayda [Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, Minneapolis] and Shirley Palumbo [Greenspoon Marder LLP, West Palm Beach, Fla.], along with moderator Ian Rubenstrunk.  They will discuss various topics including cryptocurrency, NFTs, and digital accounts, covering how to get secured and perfected, how to liquidate, and bankruptcy-specific considerations.  Additionally, the panelists will dissect “UCC Article 12 and its impact on the digital-asset world for secured parties.”  As a result, attendees should come away from the presentation with a better understanding of the considerations and issues they should be looking for when advising their constituents on dealing with digital assets.

Evan concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate bankruptcy and restructuring, representing debtors (both voluntary and involuntary) and trustees, in addition to secured creditors, asset purchasers, landlords, official committees of unsecured creditors, vendors, and litigants in bankruptcy courts across the country. His clientele stems from a wide range of industries, including aviation, restaurants, insurance, retail, healthcare, energy, and education, among many others.  Evan is a certified mediator for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware and has also served as an expert witness in the areas of restructuring and insolvency.  He is a frequent speaker on topics in the restructuring space.
