The Honorable Zuberi Williams (Ret.) Explores the Human Side of Dispute Resolution on a Recent Episode of the ABA Litigation Section's Podcast: Litigation Radio

Beyond the Résumé: Mentorship and the Human Side of Dispute Resolution

The Honorable Zuberi B. Williams (Ret.) (“Judge Zu”), a director and chair of the Business ADR practice at Bayard, P.A., joins host Michal Rogson on the ABA Litigation Section’s Litigation Radio for “Being a Mentor and a Mentee: Every Interaction Makes a Difference.”

Thoughtful, funny, and personal, Michal Rogson and Judge Zu's conversation goes beyond titles and credentials. Judge Zu discusses the relationships that shaped his career, his commitment to mentoring others, and what his time on the bench taught him about how people approach conflict and reach agreement.

It is a chance to get to know the person behind the title—and the perspective that Judge Zu brings to the table and to his practice.

Judge Zu's perspective is central to the human-centered dispute resolution approach being developed at Bayard. Careful preparation and practical assessment of legal and business risks remain essential. So do listening closely, understanding what matters to the participants, and helping them take an active role in shaping a resolution. The approach is rigorous without being impersonal, and practical without overlooking the people involved.

In addition to leading Bayard's Business ADR practice, Judge Zu is a panelist on the American Arbitration Association’s National Roster of Arbitrators and serves on its Mediation Panel. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Court-Appointed Neutrals (ACAN).
