Michael J. Scali is a director at Bayard. He concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial lending, commercial and residential real estate, corporate formation and governance, alternative business entities, and commercial transactions. Currently, Michael is a member of the firm’s associates committee.
While in law school, Michael was a member of the Woolsack Honor Society and an Associate Editor of The Dickinson Journal of Environmental Law & Policy.
Michael is currently a member of the Delaware State Bar Association’s Real & Personal Property and Commercial Law Sections. Additionally, Michael is a member of the Real Property, Probate & Trust Law and Business Law Sections of the American Bar Association.
Michael serves as a member of the Board of Directors for The Committee of 100, a business organization that promotes responsible economic development in the State of Delaware, and was recently elected as First Vice President. Michael also is a member of the Committee’s Scholarship Subcommittee and the Chair of the Committee’s Membership Subcommittee.
Michael serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Delaware Community Development Corporation, and is a member of the Corporation’s Personnel Committee. He also is active in the Delaware Bankers Association and is a member of both the World Trade Center Delaware, which assists small and medium-sized companies to expand their markets overseas, and The Risk Management Association, a professional organization whose objective is to further the ability of financial institutions to identify, assess, and manage the impacts of credit, business, and market risks.
Most recently, Michael was selected to serve a second one-year term on the Membership Committee of Meritas®, an international non-profit alliance of more than 170 independent commercial law firms in 60 countries. The appointment follows Michael’s recent involvement in the Meritas Leadership Institute, a year-long program that provides a forum for the identification of future leaders of the Meritas® alliance of attorneys.
In the community, Michael serves on the Membership Committee of the University and Whist Club, and as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau’s binding arbitration program for real estate disputes. He also lectures on entity formation and governance, and on title issues and title insurance.
