Bayard’s Douglas M. Hershman Elected a Life Director to
Home Builders Association of Delaware
WILMINGTON, Del.—January 5, 2010—Bayard P.A., a Meritas® member law firm based in Wilmington, Delaware, announced today that Douglas Hershman was elected a Life Director to the Home Builders Association of Delaware (HBA/DE) during the December meeting. The HBA/DE elects Life Directors based on service to the organization.
Hershman is actively involved in the HBA/DE and currently serves on its Board of Directors and as Secretary of the Association. He is also a past recipient of the Associate Member of the Year award.
“I am honored to be named a Life Director of the HBA/DE, an organization that is a vital resource to the success of the home building industry in the state,” said Douglas Hershman, a director at Bayard and Chairman of the firm’s executive committee and head of its real estate practice.
Hershman leads the firm’s diverse real estate practice, representing clients engaged in all aspects of the real estate industry throughout Delaware and its surrounding states. His practice includes representations of both buyers and sellers of commercial and residential real estate, as well as borrowers in financing transactions. Hershman also represents lenders making commercial real estate loans. He handles transactions involving both commercial and residential properties, including retail shopping centers, office buildings, apartment complexes and residential subdivisions. He is a licensed issuing agent for Lawyers Title Insurance Corporation, Stewart Title Guaranty Company, and Ticor Title Insurance Company.
Hershman previously served three terms as Chairman of the Delaware State Bar Association’s Real Estate and Personal Property Section and has served for many years as a member of its Executive Committee. In 2007, Doug was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Better Business Bureau of Delaware. He was elected to serve on the Executive Committee in 2008, and was named Vice Chairman in 2009. He also serves on the Board of the Wilmington Economic Development Corporation (WEDCO).
