Bayard Attorneys Glassman, Cousins, Brauerman, Alberto, Swasey, Miller and Tiradentes Named to 2016 Delaware Super Lawyers Lists

Bayard, P.A., a Meritas® member law firm based in Wilmington, Delaware, is pleased to announce that seven of its attorneys have been chosen for inclusion in the 2016 Super Lawyers lists.

Neil B. Glassman and Scott D. Cousins have been selected as 2016 Delaware Super Lawyers in the practice area of Bankruptcy: Business. No more than 5 percent of the lawyers in Delaware were selected for inclusion in this list.

Justin R. Alberto and Evan T. Miller have both been selected as 2016 Delaware Rising Stars in Bankruptcy: Business. Stephen B. Brauerman, Kara M. Swasey, and Vanessa R. Tiradentes have been selected as 2016 Delaware Rising Stars in Intellectual Property Litigation, Family Law and Business Litigation, respectively. Super Lawyers selects no more than 2.5 percent of Delaware attorneys under age 40 or in practice for 10 years or less to the Rising Stars list.

Neil B. Glassman is chairman of Bayard’s Board of Directors and heads the firm’s bankruptcy group. He focuses his practice on bankruptcy and insolvency law, and insurance and entity law. Neil regularly represents debtors, official committees of unsecured creditors or equity holders, secured lenders, banks and insurance companies, financial institutions and publicly and privately held businesses in large bankruptcy cases and other insolvency proceedings including insurance company insolvencies. Neil was also named as a Delaware Super Lawyer in 2012 and 2013.

Scott D. Cousins is a director at Bayard with more than 20 years of experience in the restructuring field. He has participated in many of the largest and most complicated business reorganizations, liquidations and distressed sales and acquisitions in Delaware’s state and federal courts. He is also experienced in out of court restructurings and workouts. He has appeared in many bankruptcy jurisdictions across the country. In addition to his restructuring expertise, Scott has wide-ranging experience in commercial transactions as a result of his role as in-house counsel for two large energy-related companies. Scott has been recognized as a Delaware Super Lawyer since 2013.

Stephen B. Brauerman is a director at Bayard, who concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate, commercial and intellectual property litigation in Delaware’s state and federal courts. He has litigated a wide array of cases involving fiduciary duty claims, corporate and alternative entity control disputes, advancement/indemnification, breach of contract, antitrust, securities, patent infringement, copyright infringement, and trademark matters. Steve also counsels clients regarding the General Corporation Law of Delaware and Delaware’s alternative entity statutes. Steve has been recognized as a Delaware Rising Star each year since 2012.

Justin R. Alberto is a director at Bayard, who focuses his practice on corporate bankruptcy and restructuring. He has experience representing debtors, creditors’ committees, equity committees, lenders, bondholders, secured and unsecured creditors, plan administrators, and other interested entities in various bankruptcy reorganization and liquidation proceedings. In addition to his restructuring practice, Justin also has experience representing entities involved in litigation arising under and transactions governed by the General Corporation Law of Delaware. He is a certified mediator for the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware and is included on the Register of Mediators and Arbitrators maintained by the Court. Justin has been recognized as a Delaware Rising Star each year since 2013.

Kara M. Swasey is a director at Bayard, who concentrates her practice in the area of family law, including divorce, custody, child support, adoption, guardianship, and protection from abuse. Kara provides litigation support to Bayard’s bankruptcy, corporate and commercial law practices.  Kara’s has been recognized as a Delaware Rising Star each year since 2014.

Evan T. Miller is an associate at Bayard, who concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate bankruptcy and restructuring, representing preference and fraudulent transfer defendants in addition to debtors, official committees of unsecured creditors, secured creditors, and asset purchasers in bankruptcy courts across the country. Evan also has experience handling commercial litigation in Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania jurisdictions, as well as with Delaware Statutory Trust matters.  He is the current Chair of the TMA NextGen Committee for the Philadelphia and Delaware Chapter and an executive board member of the Delaware Bankruptcy Inn of Court. Evan created and maintains the Avoidance Action Update Blog, which tracks the latest developments in avoidance action caselaw and jurisprudence. This is Evan’s first year on the Delaware Rising Stars list.

Vanessa R. Tiradentes is an associate at Bayard, who focuses her practice in the areas of corporate governance in the Delaware Court of Chancery, commercial litigation in the Delaware Superior Court, and intellectual property litigation in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware. She has experience assisting clients with breach of fiduciary duty claims, business divorces, control disputes, breach of contract cases, advancement and indemnification claims, and books and records requests. This is Vanessa’s first year on the Delaware Rising Stars list.
