The 2010 Best Lawyers in America was compiled based on the input of more than 24,126 attorneys nationwide, casting more than 2.8 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in the same and related specialties.

“Recognition by one’s peers is the most sincere and credible mark of distinction that can be bestowed across the legal industry,” said Neil B. Glassman, Bayard’s Chairman.  “We are once again honored to be ranked so highly in Best Lawyers this year, both as individual lawyers and as a firm.”

Curtis P. Bounds, head of Bayard’s Family Law practice, returns to the list for his second year in the area of Family Law.  He concentrates in high net worth divorce and high conflict custody cases, and also assists clients with pre-nuptial agreements, support matters, visitation, and adoption.  He is a past Chair of the Delaware Bar Association Family Law Section and currently serves as a Commissioner to the Delaware Family Law Commission and as a member of the Delaware Humanities Council.  He graduated from University of Dallas with a B.A. in 1983, and earned his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1990.

Neil B. Glassman, Bayard’s Chairman and head of the firm’s Bankruptcy group, returns to the list for his fifth consecutive year, recognized in the area of Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights Law.  He represents debtors, official committees of unsecured creditors or equity holders, secured lenders, banks, insurance companies, and other creditors in large bankruptcy cases and other insolvency proceedings.  Also an experienced transactional attorney, Glassman earned his B.A. from Trinity College  in 1974, his M.B.A. from University of Connecticut in 1978, and his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1981.

Richard D. Kirk has made Best Lawyers since 1993, and is now recognized for his work in the area of Administrative Law.  He focuses on general business litigation, intellectual property litigation, administrative law, and alternative dispute resolution.  He is a member of the Delaware District Court Rules Advisory Committee, the Delaware Supreme Court’s Standing Committee on Professionalism, the Board of Directors of the Delaware Bar Foundation, and the Richard S. Rodney Inn of Court.  He graduated from Georgetown University with a B.A. in 1975, and earned his J.D. from University of Virginia School of Law in 1978.
