Bayard Donates Beach Balls to American Heart Association’s Start! Wilmington Heart Walk, Promoting Healthy Exercise

Bayard, P.A., a Meritas® member law firm based in Wilmington Delaware, donated 2,500 Frisbees to the American Heart Association’s Start! Wilmington Heart Walk, in promotion of heart-healthy exercise. The Heart Walk aims to raise awareness and funds to fight cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 cause of death in Delaware and the country.

Bayard employees collectively raised over $1,000 to donate to the American Heart Association.

According to the American Heart Association, every minute, cardiovascular disease—including heart disease and stroke, the nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers—take the lives of two people. Through the annual Heart Walk, an event which takes place in communities nationwide, walkers help ensure funding for research to enable miracle cures and the knowledge to fight cardiovascular disease. Because a sedentary lifestyle is one of the leading risk factors for heart disease, the American Heart Walk emphasizes the importance of regular exercise in maintaining a healthy heart.

Since 1924 the American Heart Association has helped protect people of all ages and ethnicities from the ravages of heart disease and stroke. These diseases, the nation’s No. 1 and No. 3 killers, claim more than 930,000 American lives a year. The Association invested more than $348 million in fiscal year 2002-03 for research, professional and public education and advocacy so that people across America can live stronger, longer lives.
