Wilmington, Delaware- The Philadelphia Bar Association’s Business Law Section held its annual “Giants of the Bar” event on Thursday, June 16, 2022. The “Giants” event is designed to highlight legal professionals who have had a significant impact on the practice of law in Philadelphia and beyond. This year’s event featured a moderated discussion with the Honorable Kevin Carey (ret.), who served as a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 2001 to 2005 before serving as a federal Judge for the District of Delaware from 2005 to 2019. Bayard director and Philadelphia Bar Association Business Law Section Chair, Evan T. Miller, moderated the discussion which explored Judge Carey’s expansive career, both prior to and after his time on the bench. “From his fascinating path to the bankruptcy bench and his time as a highly respected jurist in the corporate insolvency world, to his extensive activities and charitable endeavors outside of the courtroom, Judge Carey embodies everything that the ‘Giants’ recognition is designed to capture,” Mr. Miller said. “It was an honor and a privilege to have the chance to explore that history with him for the benefit of the Business Law Section.”
One of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s oldest and largest sections, the Business Law Section has a mission to offer business lawyers educational programs across a broad range of substantive areas as well as opportunities to network with other attorneys sharing similar professional interests.
