Delaware Today Names Four Bayard Attorneys to 2016 Top Lawyers List

Bayard, P.A. is pleased to announce that Curtis P. Bounds, Kara M. Swasey, Marla H. Norton and Stephen B. Brauerman have been recognized by their professional peers as top Delaware lawyers in their respective practice areas in the November issue of Delaware Today magazine. To compile the 2016 Top Lawyers list, Delaware Today asked lawyers statewide to nominate the practitioners they considered to be the best lawyers in their areas of practice.

Kara and Curtis were recognized as top practitioners in Family Law, claiming two of the six listings in that category. Marla was recognized in Business-Commercial Law. Steve was recognized in the practice areas of Civil Litigation and Intellectual Property Law.

Curtis is a director at Bayard where he is head of the family law practice. He focuses on high-end divorce and complex custody matters, practicing in all three Delaware counties. Curtis was named to Delaware Today’s Top Lawyers in 2006, 2008, 2010, 2013, and 2015, and was named the 2015 and 2017 Wilmington, Delaware Family Law “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers.

Kara is a director at Bayard. She concentrates her practice in family law, including divorce, custody, child support, adoption, guardianship, and protection from abuse in all three Delaware counties. She was also named to Delaware Today’s Top Lawyers list in 2015.

Marla is a director at Bayard. She has 29 years of experience in a variety of corporate and commercial transactions for national, international, regional and local clients. She concentrates her practice on Delaware business entities (including corporations, limited liability companies, statutory trusts and partnerships), corporate governance, and third party legal opinions. Marla also has substantial experience handling mergers and acquisitions, contract drafting and negotiation, loan transactions, franchise matters and providing general business advice.

Steve is a director and Vice-Chairman of the firm and heads Bayard’s litigation practice. He concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate, commercial and intellectual property litigation in Delaware’s state and federal courts. He has litigated a wide array of cases involving fiduciary duty claims, corporate and alternative entity control disputes, advancement/indemnification, breach of contract, antitrust, securities, patent infringement, copyright infringement, and trademark matters.
