Bayard and Attorneys Receive Recognition in Benchmark Litigation’s 2023 Edition

Wilmington, Delaware- Bayard, P.A. is pleased to announce that two directors from the firm, Brett M. McCartney and Jason C. Jowers, were recognized by Benchmark Litigation-- the definitive guide to the world's leading litigation law firms and lawyers.  In the 2023 Edition of the publication, Brett M. McCartney was named a Litigation Star in Commercial Litigation, and Jason C. Jowers was named a Future Star in Commercial Litigation. Additionally, the firm was recognized for its work in Delaware and listed as a Recommended Firm.

Benchmark Litigation recognizes “litigation stars” when a lawyer is consistently referred to as a reputable and effective litigator by clients and peers. Those identified as “future stars” by the publication are lawyers who are considered “ones to watch” and are building a reputation in the market.  Both designations are only for lawyers at the partner level.

Brett is a director at Bayard and member of Bayard’s Executive Committee.  He concentrates his practice in the areas of corporate governance and complex commercial litigation, stockholder litigation, fiduciary duties, alternative entity disputes, class action, and derivative litigation.  Brett represents stockholders, directors and officers in litigation in the Court of Chancery in a variety of matters, including demands for appraisal, dissolution, advancement of legal fees and expenses, requests for inspection of corporate books and records, claims regarding the election of directors and fiduciary duty disputes.  Brett also represents corporations involving claims arising out of Delaware’s General Corporation Law.  Brett represents financial advisors and investment banks in connection with litigation involving mergers and acquisitions and other transactions.

Jason is a director at Bayard and co-chair of the firm’s Litigation Group. He concentrates his practice on corporate, alternative entity, and commercial litigation.  He primarily represents members and managers of LLCs, officers and directors of corporations, and companies in high-stakes litigation in the Delaware Court of Chancery, Delaware Superior Court, Delaware Supreme Court, and United States District Court for the District of Delaware.  Additionally, Jason handles arbitrations governed by the AAA Commercial Arbitration Rules, including cases governed by the Procedures for Large, Complex Commercial Disputes.  He has led litigation teams in disputes involving mergers and acquisitions, corporate and LLC control issues, judicial dissolution, and complex commercial arrangements.
