Bayard Family Law Attorneys Accompany Delaware Family Court Chief Judge Michael Newell on UPenn Panel

On October 9, 2023, Bayard attorneys Curtis Bounds and Kara Swasey joined Delaware Family Court Chief Judge Michael Newell in a panel discussion at the University of Pennsylvania’s Collegium Institute Legal Humanities Fellowship Program, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This session of the speaker series explored philosophical and natural law responses to the question:  what is family law?

The discussion, facilitated by Professor and Delaware attorney, Andrew Peach, J.D., Ph.D., focused on the purposes of family law, a judge’s, and attorneys’ understandings of family law in a broader sense, and family law’s relationship to various expressions on the idea of natural law.  The speakers were asked to address:  where does family law intervene and where does it step back from the regulation of families?

The fellowship program’s series of speakers is open to the fellows as well as law students and undergraduate students from the University of Pennsylvania and other area colleges and law schools. https://collegiuminstitute.org/legal-humanities
