Curtis Bounds and Kara Swasey Recognized in 2026 Lawdragon 500 Leading Family Lawyers Guide

Curtis, recognized for his practice in Domestic Relations, Business Valuations, and Dissolution, is the senior attorney in Bayard’s Family Law group. He is experienced in all areas of domestic relations law –adoption, alimony, child support, custody, dependency/neglect, divorce, equitable distribution of property, petitions for protection from abuse, prenuptial agreements, separation agreements, termination of parental rights and visitation- and focuses his practice today on business valuation and dissolution of marital estates for high net-worth clients. Curtis has been certified as a mediator in family law and has served as a mediator or rendered arbitration decisions for families in disputed marital property division and support claims. Curtis has completed the Advanced Mediator Training program conducted by the Delaware Superior Court and the Delaware State Bar Association and is a fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML).
Kara, a director in Bayard’s Family Law group, was named to the list for her exemplary work in Family Law & Litigation. She focuses her practice on a variety of family law matters including divorce, custody, child support, adoption, guardianship and protection from abuse. In addition, Kara is a certified Family Court mediator. Kara is an active member in the national legal community serving as the ABA's Family Law Section’s Liaison to the Commission on Women in the Profession, Chair of the Alimony and Spousal Support Committee, and Vice Chair of the Communications Committee. She is also very involved in the Delaware legal community, holding leadership roles in organizations such as The Melson-Arsht Inn of Court and the Delaware State Bar Association’s Family Law Section.
